Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is this event called Walk a Mile in Her Shoes?

Frank Baird founded Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® in 2001. What started out as a small group of men walking in heels around a park, has grown to become a world-wide movement with tens of thousands of people raising millions of dollars for local rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters and other sexualized violence education, prevention and remediation programs.

While called Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Red Deer, we recognize that gender-based violence does not only impact women. Anybody can experience violence, no matter their background, identity or circumstance. It is our responsibility as an organization and as a community to advocate for ALL survivors.
