The Outreach Centre is celebrating a successful holiday fundraising season. Thanks to the generosity of the community, over $200,000 was raised during the Holiday Hope campaign.
The campaign ran from November 1 through the end of December, and funds were raised through a Holiday Hope Radiothon, a Text to Give donation option, direct donations from corporations and individuals, and two sold out Lip Sync Battle events.
Held at Bo’s Bar & Stage in December, the 7th annual Lip Sync Battle brought in over $120,000 in donations. Organizers Bonnee Gregg and Brandy Roberts are thrilled with the continued success of the event.
“I think one of the main reasons Red Deer stands behind the Lip Sync Battle events is because they know 99% of the proceeds go directly to some of the most vulnerable people and families in Red Deer. I’ve never known of a fundraiser that can wholeheartedly stand behind such a bold claim”, says Gregg. “We’re so grateful to everyone who’s helped us grow this event and build awareness for The Outreach over the past 7 years.”
Funds raised through the Holiday Hope campaign went towards the many programs and initiatives offered at The Outreach Centre, including the Adopt a Family program. Especially needed during the holiday season, the Adopt a Family program provides gift cards to single parent families who are struggling to support their family. This year we gave out $94,000 to 208 families and 451 children who were served through the program.
“During one of the toughest economic years in recent history, the community showed their deep care and compassion for those needing help during the holiday season,” says Ian Wheeliker, Executive Director of The Outreach Centre. “I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to Reddeerians and central Albertans for their support and donations. Together, with your support, we made a real difference in the lives of children and families this year.”
