(RED DEER, AB) – The 8th annual Lip Sync Battle raised a record $210,269.91 for The Outreach Centre. The amount was officially announced last night at an appreciation event that was held to honour the participants and sponsors of the event.
Held at Bo’s Bar & Stage, the Lip Sync Battle is one of the main fundraisers for The Outreach Centre, with money coming in the form of sponsorships, contestant fundraising, ticket sales and a silent auction raffle.
Competitors collected pledges ahead of the event and then took the stage to lip sync their hearts out, battling for the coveted first place trophy, and of course, bragging rights. The performances provided a night of joy, laughter and entertainment. Dr. Brian Isaac secured the most donations of all the competitors, with more than $44,000 raised.
Organizers Bonnee Gregg and Brandy Roberts are thrilled at the ongoing success of this event. “Our hearts are full. The success of our 8th annual Lip Sync Battle is a huge win for our community,” says Gregg. “The first show back in 2017 made $10,000 and it is truly remarkable to see how the event has grown, raising over $200,000 this year. We will be celebrating the success of this show for many months to come.”
Funds raised from the Lip Sync Battle went towards the many programs and services offered at The Outreach Centre, including the Adopt a Family program. This year, a record 223 families and 485 children were served through the program.
The Outreach Centre would like to thank the community for the ongoing support of this event. “The Lip Sync Battle not only provides a fun and entertaining way to generate funds, but it also serves as a platform for raising awareness about the social challenges facing our community,” says Ian Wheeliker, Executive Director of The Outreach Centre. “It is inspiring to see people rally together for an important cause, ensuring that families in need receive the support and assistance they require, especially during the holiday season.”
